Drum Lessons

I give Drum Lessons at a local music store called "Music and Moore". It's run by Larry and Sara Moore so I guess you could call them my boss's. I have been giving lessons off and on for about 15 years and in that time I have developed a meathod for learning drums in a fun and logical way. We incorperate rudiments and other traditional aspects of drumming but I start out with basic beats and build from there. Here are some examples:

As a student gets more proficient we move on to beats like there:

How about some Jazz?

These are just a few of the beats I teach. I've got hundreds - in fact I'm thinking about writting a lesson book - like most of my "Big Ideas" it'll probably never get done. I will have to say that I find teaching very rewarding - there is nothing like the feeling you get when a student finaly "gets it" after stuggling for weeks (some times months) on a particular beat or rudiment or even concepts like what different time signatures mean or some technique.

All right that's enough of that - for more you'll have to come on down to Music and Moore and take a lesson or two.
